After a long enforced break, the Reserves got down to business on a cold Tuesday night when they took on a Leighton Town side in the League Cup. It didn’t take long for the Woods to get their game together after a very one sided first-half they went in for their break two goals to the good.

A particularly good start was made by new boy Nick Fearon, who is still getting up to match fitness. The first goal was a superb 25 yard shot from Anton Lewis after 20 minutes and this gave the Woods the platform to show their skill with the ball, leading to a second goal  on the half-hour scored by Anthony Page, who got in a position with a one on one with the opposition and slotted home.

The team were warned at the interval to be on their guard as Leighton would up their performance, and this is what they did. They had a lot of possession but after scoring within two minutes of the restart, they didn’t worry Mark Britt too much again.

After Mark Adams made his three substitutions the Woods wrapped up the game when Pat Lawrence was put through in the 85th minute, and he scored with ease to give the team a deserved 3-1 victory.

Another excellent performance was put in by the very impressive Man of the Match Will Hudson, who was playing in another new position.
